Copper Supply Disrupted...

Copper producer Xstrata said in mid-June that a strike will disrupt its Montreal operations, which accounted for 2% of world copper supply last year. Xstrata declared force majeure June 15, but Edward Meir, an analyst at Man Financial, said the strike will be short-lived. At the same time, workers at Codelco's Collahuasi mine and Southern Copper Corp.'s Peruvian operations have threatened to strike.
