Cabot expands carbon black capacity in China

By Dave Hannon -- Purchasing, 7/23/2007 6:30:00 AM

Cabot Corporation announced plants to expand its carbon black facility in China, located at the Tianjin Economic Technical Development Area, which is a joint venture with Shanghai Coking Chemical Co. A $65 million investment will construct two additional rubber blacks units, increasing the nameplate capacity of the plant to approximately 250,000 metric tons. Cabot said its existing rubber blacks units at the facility are operating at full capacity and the expansion will allow Cabot to support the growing demand in the China market.

The project is scheduled to be completed late 2008 and will include “the most advanced waste energy recovery and environmental technologies” according to a statement.
