Copper Price to Rise
By Staff -- Purchasing, 8/16/2007
ABN Amro metals analysts believe the second half of 2007 could be a period of moderating commodity prices, but still sees global copper prices averaging $3.26/lb this year, up from $3.05 in 2006. "Copper cathode has benefited from Chinese restocking and multiple supply disruptions during the summer months," says Tim Huff, an analyst with the brokerage. However, he believes second-half pricing will slide somewhat as midsummer strikes end and supply catches up with demand.
