MSC Industrial Supply adds 40% more products to new Fastener Source Book

MSC Industrial Supply Co. has released a new Fastener Source Book.

For 2007, MSC has increased the number of fastener products by 40% from its last printing in 2002, for a total of more than 42,000 products. Among them: a full line of stainless steel fasteners.  

“The new Source Book includes many new items and technical information to assist customers in finding the right products for maintenance, repair and production,” says Greg Levy, senior director of MRO and purchasing at MSC in Melville, N.Y. MRO stands for maintenance, repair and operations.

“We have determined that in addition to an extensive line of socket products, our customers highly value a full range of quality grades, sizes, materials and leading industry brands at competitive prices,” he adds. “This new book, along with our offering of 500,000 items in both MRO and metalworking, positions us to fulfill virtually all of our customers needs from one source.”

In addition to providing a vendor managed inventory (VMI) program for fasteners, MSC also offers a customer managed inventory (CMI) system, where customers have complete control over inventory, from being able to scan items they want and place orders directly on the company website to tracking orders electronically.

In March 2007, Grainger launched the biggest product expansion in its history by increasing nine-fold the number of fasteners in its catalog. The distributor added 40,000 fasteners to its line. See Grainger announces biggest product expansion in its history.
