Donnelly Custom Manufacturing Co. in Alexandria, Minn., has received Marvin Windows and Doors’ Silver Supplier award for 2007.
Marvin, based in Warroad, Minn., makes made-to-order wood and clad wood windows and doors. Donnelly molds short-run parts for all the company’s divisions including corner keys and other non-extruded plastic components.
Marvin presented its award based on results of monthly supplier performance reports that evaluate standards of quality and delivery as well as technology and transaction accuracy. Donnelly also received bonus points for ISO certification and process changes.
Donnelly trained Marvin employees on training within industry, a lean manufacturing technique that provides supervisors with leadership and analytical skills to help them train personnel to recommend and implement process improvements. The company introduced the training to employees at Marvin’s Minnesota employees a year ago and they have been implementing it since. Several employees from the company’s Tennessee plant also have traveled to Donnelly to become certified job methods trainers, one of three training within industry focus areas.
