Avnet signs Taiyo YudenAvnet Electronics has signed a new distribution agreement with Taiyo Yuden and will carry the supplier's line of capacitors, filters, inductors and magnetic components in North and South America.
Taiyo Yuden is one of the largest manufacturers of surface-mount capacitors and inductive components and its "product portfolio is a strong complement to Avnet's current offerings," says Pat Wastal, senior vice president of IP&E for Avnet Electronics Marketing. "The agreement will allow us to augment our historical supply chain solutions and position Avnet and Taiyo Yuden as premier logistics support providers for our customers," he says.
Digi-Key inks dealDigi-Key has entered into a global distribution with Roving Networks and will carry the company's line of wireless networking products.
Roving Networks of Los Gatos, Calif., designs, manufactures and markets embedded modules, serial adapters, network access devices, and sensors, allowing access from Bluetooth-enabled PCs, PDAs, cell phones, networks, and machine-to-machine communications.
Roving Networks' products reduce wireless product development cycle times. Applications include wireless solutions for industrial automation, medical/hospital, point-of-sale, inventory, home control, M2M, and others. Roving Networks products stocked by Digi-Key are featured in both its print and online catalogs and are available for purchase directly from Digi-Key in Thief River Falls, Minn.
Newark to carry lighting connectorsNewark says it is among the first distributors to carry the new Tyco Electronics Light-N-Lok connectors for fluorescent ballast applications.
Tyco Electronics Light-N-Lok connectors provide a hot-pluggable disconnect to allow safe servicing for commercial lighting per UL 2459, without exposure to electrical shock hazards.
They feature an integral strain relief to maximize wire retention by preventing inadvertent wire twisting and pullout. Dual squeeze-to-release latches also provide additional security by preventing unintentional disconnects.
Arrow acquires Indian distributorsArrow Electronics says it has acquired the electronics distribution business of two Indian companies.
Arrow says it bought the franchise components distribution business of Hynetic Electronics and Shreyanics Electronics in India, effective Jan. 1.
"The Hynetic business is similar to Arrow's, with its demand-creation business model and strong engineering capabilities," says Michael Long, president of Arrow Global Components.
He says the acquisition benefits Arrow by expanding the distributor Indian customer base in the rapidly growing small- and medium-sized market.
