Platinum prices up, up, up

Platinum prices, which reached a record $1,543/ton average in January, will remain high for the rest of the year, say analysts polled by Mining Weekly. "Producers are experiencing difficulties in meeting production targets while demand is very strong, driven by autocatalysts in diesel engines," says J.P. Morgan & Co. analyst Steve Shepherd.
