Sheet-Steel prices stiffen

With their own inventories down, North American steel service centers will have little choice other than to pay higher sheet prices the mills are demanding, says Timna Tanners of UBS Securities and a member of Purchasing's Commodities Council. So, cold-rolled sheet cost about $655/ton for January deliveries and buyers will pay between $685 and $780 for steel in February and March.
