WHAT IT MEANS: While the base rate hike is bad news for buyers, the good news is Pilot is keeping all accessorial charges at 2007 levels. Pilot cited a 39% increase in jet fuel prices in 2007 as one of the reasons for the rate hike.

WHAT IT MEANS: Most buyers continue to expect more cost increases on the freight horizon, as they did for most of 2007. By comparision, one year ago, only 45% of buyers polled expected transporation costs to increase in the first quarter of 2007.
