Intel Develops Chip for Low-End Computer Market
Diamondville chip will have about half the power of a Celeron processor

Intel is developing a smaller microprocessor for use in the low-end computer market ($250 range). The Diamondville chip will have about half the power of a Celeron processor, but provide enough power to run most programs. With it, Intel aims to dive more deeply into the rapidly growing market for low-end PCs and laptops shipping to schools and emerging regions like China, India and Brazil.
