Logistics Merger Volume Hits 20-Year High

Statistics from analyst firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers show logistics merger volume hits 20-year high in 2007.

By David Hannon -- Purchasing, 3/13/2008

According to statistics released from analyst firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers, the volume of mergers and acquisitions in the global transportation and logistics industry hit a 20-year high in 2007, with a stunning 1,291 deals.

However, due to a decline in the size of the average deal in 2007 ($426 million, a steep decline from the $1 billion total value of 2006 deals), the total value of all deals in 2007 dropped significantly to $83 billion, down from the 20-year high of $164 billion set in 2006.
