Port of New Orleans plans expansion

By Staff -- Purchasing, 4/10/2008

Officials at the Port of New Orleans are looking for more than $1 billion from both public and private entities in an effort to expand the port. The centerpiece is the expansion of the Napoleon Avenue Container Terminal (right), which would allow the port to handle an additional 195,000 TEUs and an eventual third step, which would cost another $240 million and boost the terminal's capacity to about 1.34 million TEUs each year.
