Univar has acquired Marnic through RW Greef, its industrial consumables division. Marnic is a specialty distributor of tape and protection products for the construction market based in London.
“The purchase of Marnic is consistent with our aggressive growth strategy and expansion into key new market sectors such as construction,” says Mark Hughes, managing director at RW Greeff in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. “Through Marnic, our entry into the construction consumables market greatly enhances our status as a niche technical distributor. Marnic management has done an exceptional job in developing the business since the company’s inception in establishing and serving a strong and loyal customer and supplier base.”
Marnic is an independent niche supplier to the construction, agriculture, audio visual and aerospace markets.
RW Greeff markets and sells consumable products—tapes, adhesives, abrasives, lubrication and greases, specialty coatings and health and safety products—to the automotive OEM, electronics, transportation, industrial, energy, good and beverage industries.
Parent company Univar takes the number spot on Purchasing’s Top 100 Chemical Distributor list for 2007. Its sales for 2007 are $5.5 billion. For its ranking on the list for 2008, check back with purchasing.com on May 8.
