Gabel joins Bell Inc. as supply chain manager

Former director at Dana Corp brings vision

By Susan Avery -- Purchasing, 4/29/2008 10:27:00 AM

David Gabel has joined Bell Inc. as supply chain manager. Bell is a paperboard packaging manufacturer in Sioux Falls, S.D.
“David brings not only Fortune 500 supply chain management credentials, but also the talent and vision necessary to take us to the next level,” says Ben Graham, vice president of finance, sales and supply chain at Bell.
Gable most recently directed sourcing and global procurement for Dana Corp. in Kalamazoo, Mich. Prior to that, he led a staff of 24 people in sourcing and procurement roles for Stihl Inc., a privately held global manufacturer in Virginia Beach, Va.
“It was important to join a company that judges its supply and demand relationships on value, not just price, and whose relationships with suppliers and customers are based on a philosophy of transparency,” says Gabel.
His initial goals include installing software and systems that notify suppliers instantly when orders change; ensuring only best-in-class suppliers serve Bell and green supply chain programs for total elimination of waste.
