WHAT IT MEANS: The transportation services price index hit a record high in April and again in May, driven by increased fuel surcharges. And 88% of buyers polled expect the higher rates to continue.

WHAT IT MEANS: That's a 5% uptick from the previous surcharge. The surcharge is based on U.S. Gulf Coast prices for kerosene-type jet fuel reported by the U.S. Department of Energy for the month that is two months prior to the adjustment.
