BtoB Media Business Magazine has named www.purchasing.com one of the 10 “Great Media Sites” in its second annual review of the best such sites in the industry.
www.Purchasing.com, which won in the Trade category, is the web site for Purchasing Magazine, the largest magazine circulating to chief procurement officers and supply chain executives.
“One noteworthy feature of www.purchasing.com is its Monday Midday Report,” said Marie Griffin, who wrote the cover story on the media web sites for the June issue of BtoB. The Midday Report is a brief news wrap-up on commodity prices and other important supply chain trends researched by Purchasing’s editors. “Although it is labeled video, most of the time it is a flash presentation with slides, other two-dimensional images and voice overs from Purchasing editors, Griffin said.
“We’re delighted with the award,” said Kathy Doyle, publisher of Purchasing and www.purchasing.com. “We believe that constant creativity and innovation are the keys to a successful web site and our entire staff works hard to bring those elements into play every day.”
Said Paul Teague, editor in chief, “Our readership studies tell us that it’s our unique coverage of price and other commodity news that’s most important to them, and we put a lot of reporting muscle into the effort to get that information and publish it online and in our print publication.”
Griffin noted that www.purchasing.com unveiled a redesign last November with the help of parent company Reed Business Information’s Interactive Group. The number of unique visitors to the site has increased greatly since then. In April 2008, for example, there were 38% more unique visitors than April 2007.
