New travel service provides up to the minute info

By Susan Avery -- Purchasing, 6/25/2008 1:27:00 AM

Rearden Commerce and American Express have launched American Express Anywhere, a new mobile service that enables corporate travelers to manage trip details and other business through their BlackBerry smartphones.

With one click of the American Express icon on the smartphone home screen, users can access their personalized travel itinerary, receive real-time travel alerts, scan destination weather information and even click-to-call their travel provider for further assistance.

Future phases of the service will let users view their airport parking and car service reservations, share itinerary details with others, find restaurants and place reservations.

American Express Business Travel will offer the new service to its clients as a mobile companion to its Axiom online marketplace.
