New job control software from CanonCanon announced the release of its new job tracking software, the Technesis Print Control system, designed for its imagePROGRAF printers. This new software follows in a line of software distributed with office equipment to help users control the flow of documents to a printer or MFP, as well as manage use of color print and document security. The Technesis keeps track of ink consumption levels in all connected printers, allowing each print job to be automatically cost evaluated.
“Tracking and capturing print costs is a growing need from our customers,” says Jim Rosetta, vice president and general manager of Canon's Imaging Systems Group.
New tool to help track paper useThe Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) launched the newest version of its Paper Calculator, version 2.0, a tool the EDF says is used by over 3,000 businesses to help track paper use and determine ways to cut down on consumption altogether. The tool, which was first released in 2005, is available free on the EDF's website at papercalculator.org. This new version has more comparison options between paper grades to help buyers quantify savings opportunities by switching to different papers.
