Office equipment manufacturer Epson recently announced its newest addition to its line of office scanners, the WorkForce GT-1500. The new flatbed scanner features a 20 page per minute (ppm) document feeder for documents processing with the bundled OCR technology. This means small offices that need a scanner to help convert documents to text as well as electronically archive paper documents can use the scanner with the bundled software to automate their processes. The GT-1500 has a document feeder capacity of 40 pages and has a flatbed scan resolution of 1,200 × 2,400 pixels.

The scanner also uses LED technology instead of the standard scanner light bulbs, which contained mercury and required a warm-up time before using the scanner. The LEDs in the scan bed eliminate scanner warm-up times and also reduce overall energy consumption by the scanner.
