Iowa plant reopens after damage from June floods

By Purchasing Staff -- Purchasing, 8/27/2008 11:24:00 AM

Industrial starch provider Penford announced this week its Cedar Rapids, Iowa plant has reopened and is again producing starch for industrial buyers.

In a statement released this week, Tim Kortemeyer, President of Penford’s Industrial Ingredients business, said: "We are working with customers to fulfill their supply chain requirements and are ramping up to match our capacity with demand. Further, we currently expect to be able to resume the production of ethanol during the second half of September.”

In June, floods in the Midwest closed several major plants and roads.
