Arrows inks global agreement

Distributor will carry a variety of chips made by SMSC

Arrow Electronics, Inc has announced it has signed a distribution agreement with chipmaker SMSC and will carry the company’s line of semiconductors in most of Asia and North and Central America.

A global supplier of semiconductors that distribute video, audio, photos and data in the home, automobile, office and factory, SMSC develops semi custom and application-specific products that allow users to access or transfer their digital content.

Among the SMSC products covered in the agreement are USB ports in LCD monitors and set-top boxes, flash media card readers in printers, and Ethernet ports used in gaming systems and digital televisions.

Arrow is based in Melville, N.Y. and SMSC is based in Hauppauge, N.Y.
