There Is Help Out There for all the Inplant Representatives

Lance Dixon -- Purchasing, 9/21/2000

I used to be surprised when a person would call, describing themselves as an "inplant."

The term is slang for "inplant representative." This is now a common title for some thousands of professionals working onsite/inplant at customers' locations.

The question they most frequently ask is can I identify corporations utilizing the JIT II inplant approach in their material planning and purchasing departments. Frequently, these people may need to relocate and wish to know who is practicing JIT II in a certain city. If you could use that type of insight, please feel free to call the number below.

Of course today, companies selling to and supporting their customers with inplant personnel are expanding use of the concept as well as purchasing department heads who originally implemented JIT II. Information on those companies and their locations are also available.

General JIT II information, copies of various trade magazine articles of JIT II use in purchasing, sales and logistics in U.S. and international locations are also available free.

The Bose JIT II Education & Research Center and the related STMicroelectronics Inc. Purchasing Studies Center are located at the Bose Corporate Center in Framingham, Mass. and operate on a non-profit basis.

JIT II is a service mark of BOSE Corporation. Concepts were conceived and implemented by Lance Dixon, executive director, JIT II Education & Research Center. To order JIT II video (26min.), send $295 (check or MO) to Purchasing Magazine, P.O. Box 497, New Town Branch, Boston, Mass. 02158. For JIT II information, textbook, seminars, call (508) 766-7080 or write BOSE JIT II Education & Research Center, MS 4A1, The Mountain, Framingham, MA 01701.
