Convoy!
Convoy!
May 11, 2007
It's been a while since I wrote the words "Best Way" in the transportation box on a purchase order. I had the benefit of working for companies that recognized the importance of managing inbound logistics from both a cost and control standpoint. Buyers today are much more aware of transportation networks and suppliers.
According to the American Trucking Associations (ATA) , here are the top five companies in the LTL and TL categories. Statistics were from 2005.
Less-Than-Truckload
- YRC Worldwide
- FedEx Freight
- Con-way Freight
- UPS Freight
- ABF Freight System
Truckload
- Swift Transportation Co.
- Schneider National
- J.B. Hunt Transport Services
- Landstar System
- Werner Enterprises
Keep an eye out for them next time you are on the interstate. They just may have your parts on board.
