Article Review: Boeing Welcomed to the Billion Dollar Roundtable
Article Review: Boeing Welcomed to the Billion Dollar Roundtable
June 11, 2007
You must read this article on Purchasing.com
The subhead states that the “Aerospace giant spends more than $2 billion annually with minority and women-owned businesses.” Boeing was the latest inductee into the Billion Dollar Roundtable, a select group of companies that spend more than $1 billion with minority-and-women-owned suppliers. Note that Boeing spent $2 billion, $1 billion over the required amount. The combined Billion Dollar Roundtable membership had collective purchases of more than $24 billion in 2006. This is a lot of products and services given to the minority-and women-owned companies.
In the article if you click on the Billion Dollar Roundtable area, it actually takes you to the Billion Dollar Roundtable site. You have got to see this, it pictures a round table with chairs. List of members:
- Altria
- AT & T
- DaimlerChrysler
- Ford
- GM
- IBM
- Johnson Controls
- Lockheed Martin
- P & G
- Toyota
- Verizon
- Wal-Mart Stores
Take the time to look at this website. It lists 2006 survey comments on initiatives that led to the success of Supplier Diversity Programs and also shows challenges facing the Supplier Diversity Program.
In 2004, The Institute for Supply Management established an award program for Groups and Forums. The Groups and Forums Excellence Award Program provides an opportunity for ISM to recognize Groups or Forums that have demonstrated excellence in professional operations, educational offerings and recruitment, training and retention efforts. ISM presented the Award to the Minority and Women’s Business Development Group (MWBDG) for its accomplishments. All members of this group work in supplier diversity programs. http://www.mwbdg.com/
Many companies support a diversity program. What about your company? Use the COMMENTS function to tell us about yours!
