Manufacturing Extension Partnership

From time to time I like to share resources that will benefit purchasing and supply chain management folks. Being a fan and ardent supporter of small and midsized businesses, I like to collect web sites and resources that provide great information for those without access to large staffs and resources.

One of those sites is the Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership , part of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST ). You might know them as your local MEP, the organization that will come into your factory to work on quality, lean, manufacturing and supply chain issues. Those that staff MEPs are experienced manufacturing professionals with a deep inventory of resources. I have never heard of a MEP not helping a company they are working with.

The main MEP site has information on RoHS, e-business, RFID, and other important manufacturing related topics. Your state site may have even more. In fact, there is a search box to help you find your local MEP.
