A Tribute to Chris Loup
After a 20 year run as the executive director of the Purchasing Management Association of Boston, Chris Loup has decided to move on. Robert Shaw is the new executive director, and I know he will do a fine job. He is a long time member and former president of the Association. We are in good hands with Bob.
I would not be where I am today without Chris. A mentor, friend, and coach, she had an immeasurable impact on me personally and professionally. Chris would challenge you to break out of your comfort zone. She had faith in you when you might not have had faith in yourself. Best, she was not patronizing, but a straight shooter that offered comment that was accurate and insightful.
Twenty years ago Chris asked me to give a one hour presentation at a PMAB dinner meeting. There were about 100 people in the audience and I spoke on supplier relationships. That event inspired me to do more. Much more. More workshops, more seminars, more classes, and more professional involvement. I teach at the college level today because of the start that Chris gave me. Call it the big bang theory.
And I am not alone. Chris did not play favorites, but she helped many, many people. At her recognition event this past Monday, it was determined that during her tenure she came in contact with over 12,000 people. She had an impact on each and every one.
Thanks Chris. It was an honor to work with you and even more of an honor to be your friend.

Chris - I echo Rich's sentiments and I believe that his tribute to
Chris speaks for so many of us. I am so fortunate to have known you
and worked with you over the past 20 years in various capacities.
It was an honor to serve as PMAB's president from 1997 - 1998. You
have single-handedly shaped the New England supply management
community. You challenged me and, as a result, I grew both
personally and professionally to a level I didn't think possible.
Words cannot express the gratitude for the impact you've had on me.
I wish you all the best in whatever the future holds for you. Karen
