Smile! Manufacturing is Growing

July 16, 2008

At least in my state, it is. A report in yesterday’s Boston Globe describes that the manufacturing sector in Massachusetts is growing….and if it can grow in my state it can grow anywhere.

The report, co-sponsored by the Boston Foundation, the Massachusetts Manufacturing Extension Partnership, and the Massachusetts Alliance for Economic Development, shows that most of the manufacturing firms in Massachusetts are privately held companies…employing nearly 300,000 workers.

The report cites that the growth in the manufacturing sector can be attributed adapting products to market needs, technology upgrades, more efficient supply chains, and capitalizing on the weak dollar to sell in the global market.

There are some bright spots in the economic picture and this one should be celebrated. Tell us about some manufacturing success stories in your region by leaving a comment. I’ll bet there are many!
