Spring Cleaning in the Fall
My husband finally had it with the garage being full of junk. Over the week end we did a major clean. In our area, we have a Community Christian Association that collects stuff and sells it in two stores they have in Lewisville. This organization does a lot for our community. They have a free health clinic where doctors in the area donate time. They have people that come in an teach classes helping people learn to speak English, read and write. Lots of volunteers work free for this organization.
To make a long story short, after numerous hours of work in the garage, getting sore and dirty, we had two pickup loads to go to the CCA. A couple of weeks before, we had a pickup load also. CCA not only sells things at a reduced rate, they employ a lot of people in the area. Just think about sorting all this stuff and putting a price on it.
When my husband took the loads to the CCA, there were at least 10 cars and trucks ahead of him in line. Can the economy be so bad when we have so much stuff? I need to start on the inside of the house next. As stated before, I love books. I have three bookcases probably 3 to 4 feet wide and 6 feet tall which are full of
books. I am not talking paper backs. One is full of my daughter’s children’s books all the way through college. Why do I keep this stuff? I am sentimental. If I took it to her house, she would get rid of it.
Everyone at work says I love paper. Well, I cleaned out my little storage shed and filled up a recycle bin on paper from different classes I have taken. I still like paper to study. You can get in bed; prop up a few pillows and study. Sure you can get a laptop and do this, however it is not the same. I am the older generation, I still like
paper. Habits are hard to change!
