Economy grew 0.6% in first quarter

Sunoco will build coke plant in Granite City, Ill.
Sunoco’s Gateway Energy and Coke subsidiary will build a facility in Granite City, Ill., to supply metallurgical-grade coke and steam to the adjacent U.S. Steel steelmaking facility.  Read more>>

Ipsco to expand heat-treated steel capacity
The Swedish parent company of Ipsco Steel plans to spend $150 million to $250 million, to build a heat-treating facility to make stronger steel at either its Montpelier, Iowa, or Mobile, Ala., steel mills.  Read more>>


Printing, writing paper stocks have tumbled
North American mill inventories of printing and writing paper plunged to 1.8 million net tons at the end of March, a 19.3% drop compared with a year ago, the Pulp and Paper Products Council reports.  Read more>>
