Magazine Awards
Purchasing Earns 3 National Awards
Editors of Purchasing Magazine received three national awards from the American Society of Business Press Editors. Winning one award is a pretty big deal. No other publication in this field has ever won even one of these national awards. Purchasing received three.
One for the e-procurement strategies' section published June 15, 2000, titled 'Why top execs love e-buying' won as best special section.'
The other for 'Boeing's strategies focus on suppliers' published Aug. 10, 2000 was named best case history.
We also won a national award in the original Web data best category for www.chemyellowpages.com, the electronic version of our Chemicals' Yellow Pages.
Hats off first to Anne Millen Porter , who quarterbacked and wrote a big chunk of the e-procurement report. Anne brings excellent thinking, great writing and suberb organizational skills to each project she handles for Purchasing. All of her talents came to bear in this special section which included 18 articles written by our staff. It was a great analysis of the Internet Gold Rush of 2001, as well as Mike Roach, our very talented art director, who made it look beautiful.
Hats off next to Tom Stundza, one of the giants of metals' writing. Tom wins the national ASBPE award for the Boeing feature, where he leveraged his knowledge of metals into a great strategic sourcing story on Boeing focusing on the recently retired Russ Bunio, one of the legends in American buying. Earlier this year, Tom was named Man of the Year by the Association of Steel Distributors.
ChemYellowPages.com was a collective effort by many hard-working people at Cahners. Our Web listings are updated weekly, as new information becomes available. The print product is updated annually. In www.chemyellowpages.com, distributors are organized separately from producers.
