Do you want to work in the beautiful Pacific Northwest? Novellus has an immediate need for a Buyer / Planner to join our team in Tualatin, Oregon. (Tualatin is a Portland suburb.) The Buyer / Planner is responsible for monitoring the overall movement of materials through the production cycle in order to strategically plan and schedule how much material is required, when it is required and where it is required. Multiple positions available, one of which requires experience in the purchase of highly complex machined products.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Purchase materials, components and equipment using engineering and production schedules
• Maintain inventory at planned levels at all times
• Gather quotations, evaluate bids and make awards
• Develop specifications for new contract orders
• Evaluate vendor reliability, develop new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are inadequate
• Monitor cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value
• Resolve a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways
• Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors
• Demonstrates good judgment in selection methods and techniques with a focus on time-bound deliverables
Minimum Job Qualifications/Experience/Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in business or technical discipline
• Minimum 5 years experience as a Buyer in the same or similar industry
• Advanced experience with MRP, preference for SAP
• Experience in a low volume, high mix manufacturing environment
• Strong preference for experience with semiconductor capital equipment
• Effective negotiation skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to interact with senior level internal and external personnel
• Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment Relocation will not be provided.
